SREMSKA MITROVICA

Sremska Mitrovica  is a city in the north of Serbia. It has about 80,000 inhabitants. It is situated on the left bank of the Sava river where we have one of the most beautiful beaches in Serbia. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Archaeologists have found a trace of organized human life dating from 5000 BC onwards. The town lies on the ruins of the ancient cities, Sirmium. Sirmium was a capital of the Roman Empire during the Tetrarchy of 4th century CE. Ten Roman emperors were born in or near this city. It results in numerous archaeological sites in the town and its surroundings. The most famous is the visitor Centre „Carksa palata“
There is a rich cultural life in the town. We have a museum, gallery, library, theatre and there are different exhibitions, shows and concerts all year.
There are many events and festivals in our town such as Srem Folk Fest.  It is a festival of folk music and many dance groups come from all over the world to show their national dances and songs. We have the Night of the Museum, The Wine Park, Sirmium Rock Fest, Oratory Festival, Magic Square for children and many others.
