YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

The food we eat gives our bodies the "information" and materials they need to function properly. If we don't get the right information, our metabolic processes suffer and our health declines. If we get too much food, or food that gives our bodies the wrong instructions, we can become overweight, undernourished, and at risk for the development of diseases and conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease. Also, the relationship between food and the environment is complex and multifaceted. Food systems, which include food production, processing, packaging, transportation, and disposal, are responsible for a whopping one-third of anthropocentric greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions contribute to climate change, which means food and climate change are also irrevocably linked. When food waste ends up in landfills, it generates methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas. Additionally, when food scraps and waste are not properly disposed of, they can attract pests, and contribute to air and water pollution. The motto of this mobility is „YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT“. Through many TINY STEPS we make in our schools and local communities we want to draw attention to this problem and offer our solution which will contribute to GREAT CHANGES. We want our peers and our teachers, as well as our citizens to become aware that what we eat is central to our health. It is also important to educate that buying from local food producers contributes to the environment, and buying rationally reduces food waste.

Firstly, we  had organized various activities in our schools related to food and health. Then, during the mobility we jointly made a healthy meal with PDO products of each country. We also designed calendars with the topic of PDO products of each partner country,  learned how to transform waste materials (metal) into new objects of environmental value and wrote the fourth stanza of our Anthem to Sustainability
