SPARE A WATT TO SAVE A LOT

Energy efficiency is the use of less energy to perform the same task or produce the same result. Energy-efficient homes and buildings use less energy to heat, cool, and run appliances and electronics, and energy-efficient manufacturing facilities use less energy to produce goods. Energy efficiency is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to combat climate change,  reduce energy costs for consumers. Energy efficiency is also a vital component in achieving net-zero emissions of carbon dioxide through decarbonization. Energy and environmental problems are closely related, since it is nearly impossible to produce, transport, or consume energy without significant environmental impact. The environmental problems directly related to energy production and consumption include air pollution, climate change, water pollution, thermal pollution, and solid waste disposal. The emission of air pollutants from fossil fuel combustion is the major cause of urban air pollution. Burning fossil fuels is also the main contributor to the emission of greenhouse gases. Diverse water pollution problems are associated with energy usage. The motto of this mobility is „SPARE A WATT TO SAVE A LOT“. Through many TINY STEPS we make in our schools and local communities we want to draw attention to this problem and offer our solution which will contribute to GREAT CHANGES. We want our peers and our teachers, as well as our citizens to become aware that saving energy does not only have a financial aspect, but, more importantly, contributes to the preservation of the environment, plants, animals, clean air…

Firstly, we had organized various activities in our schools related to energy saving. Then, during the mobility we jointly thought, designed, and wrote leaflets with tips on how to save energy, We also learned how to transform waste materials (plastic) into new objects of environmental value and wrote the third stanza of our Anthem to Sustainability.

BEFORE THE MOBILITY
